High Availability 2.0

Prevent spooler failures thanks to early warning system

Spooler problems often occur in print servers in the long term and delays in print output can occur long before the spool process actually fails. That’s why ThinPrint is now going one step further and establishing an early warning system for spooler problems: The ThinPrint Engine regularly determines the speed of the spooling process and transfers print jobs to other servers if specified thresholds are exceeded. In this way, a negative impact on the print infrastructure is averted at an early stage.

Endpoint spooler centrally monitored

Spooler problems of local print servers and desktop computers can also have a negative effect on printing. With ThinPrint 12, the IT administrator has a central overview of the health status of these components at all times and can intervene in a targeted and timely manner in the event of malfunctions.

Configuring high availability using group policies

The group policy (GPOs) for high availability of servers (HA), such as central or local print servers, has been enhanced with a number of features. This greatly simplifies HA configuration for remote desktops such as terminal servers or virtual desktops. The use of these device-specific group policies does not cause any login delay for users, as is sometimes the case with user-specific GPOs.

Multi-client capability

The ThinPrint License Server is now multi-client capable. Multi-tenancy not only offers service providers, but also companies with various locations or subsidiaries a variety of advantages – whether cost-efficient consolidation, better capacity utilization or continuous cost savings.

With just one license server, service providers have an instant overview of all their customer licenses and can manage them efficiently from a single console. This also applies to administrators in companies with multiple sites or a group structure. And, of course, each subsidiary, customer or business location only has access to the users in its own domain.

Other print management enhancements

One universal installer for all environments

A single installer (ThinPrint Engine installer) covers all environments, whether you are running terminal servers or VDIs including Citrix virtual desktops or VMware desktop solutions such as VMware Horizon. ThinPrint 12 installs quickly and easily in less than 30 minutes.

Dynamic synchronization of ThinPrint licenses with Active Directory

ThinPrint licenses can now be more granularly synchronized with users from your Active Directory. If desired, all users deactivated in the AD can now be removed from the ThinPrint license server with a single click in addition to the deleted users. This allows you to use free licenses much more efficiently. User names or e-mail addresses that have changed in Active Directory are also updated in the ThinPrint administration console if necessary.

Printer Self Service now even clearer

Printers can now be grouped by location during setup, for example. These printer groups can also be activated for Printer Self Service. This means that users can find their printers even faster and IT support is relieved.

Comprehensive system support & security

ThinPrint 12 supports the IPv6 protocol, even in pure IPv6 environments. In addition, ThinPrint is now prepared for the current TLS 1.3 encryption standard.

ThinPrint 12 also offers broad support for Windows operating systems, including Windows Server 2019 and Windows 10 Multi-Session as well as all versions starting with Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows 7 SP1 (ThinPrint Client supports both x64 and x86 systems, ThinPrint Engine supports x64 only).
