Demo or 30-days license keys

Free demo versions of the various ThinPrint products can be downloaded from: thinprint.com/demo.

License keys are already integrated into the products, so that you can install and test them immediately. In this case, select Evaluation ode during installation. Here, a 30-days license keys will be installed.

ThinPrint licensing: select Demo Mode

Demo and 30-days license keys are fully functional for 30 days but cannot be activated. With demo license keys, output printed with ThinPrint Output Gateway displays a watermark.

Once you have completed testing the software, you can purchase a full version from your nearest ThinPrint or Cortado reseller or distributor. It is not necessary to uninstall the demo software version and its license key(s).

Note! Demo license keys haven’t got to be deleted from License Manager. The system applies the more valuable license automatically.

Productive license keys

In contrast to a demo installation, when you install a purchased product, you enter a productive (or full version) license keys. To do so, select Enter license key(s) during installation (see the screenshot above). If you have already installed the software as a demo version and now wish to install the productive license/s without reinstalling the software, simply open License Manager on the license server.

Caution! A new license key only works with current software. If you're not using the current software version, please indicate that when ordering new licenses, or send us a request for the appropriate license key for the version you're using.

Entering a license key

  • Select Add License Key in the context menu (next screenshot); a new window opens (screenshot after next).
Enter a license key here (case sensitive).

  • Confirm with OK. The license key is now listed under License Key (left arrow). A registration key appears automatically (right arrow), and the time period during which the license key can be used without activation is displayed under Valid Until.
  • Repeat this procedure for any further license keys, if required for the respective product.

Caution! The License Manager offers the possibility of destroying license keys. Be aware however, that once license keys have been destroyed they can not be reentered – not even if they had been previously activated.

All newly purchased ThinPrint or Cortado software has a 30-day test period, which should be used to configure the software to the specific requirements of your IT environment and test its function. After configuration and trial period, the license can be activated to allow its use without time restriction.

Activating licenses using the Enterprise Portal

Sending activation request

To activate productive licenses, open the Cortado Enterprise Portal at enterpriseportal.cortado.com. If you're already a registered customer, enter your access data here (e-mail address and password.

ThinPrint licensing: Cortado Enterprise Portal – Login

If you are not yet a registered customer, then click instead on Register (see arrow in screenshot above). There you will find the appropriate registration forms, under Register as customer or Register as system integrator. See also: Registration for the Enterprise Portal.

In Enterprise Portal you can get an overview of your licenses, make activation and support requests and make application for non-binding offers to renew annual licenses or update and support services. You also have the opportunity to import and export your license keys for unattended licensing.

End users can find their license keys in Customer View. Select the licenses to be activated there (checkbox at left) and then click on the  button (left arrow).

Enter the corresponding registration keys for the respective licenses and optionally the computer address (IP address, host name or FQDN, Illus. below). You will find comprehensive online help under Help (right arrow in screenshot above).

Then, the activation and subscription keys will be displayed in Enterprise Portal.

Creating activation file

Alternatively, you can create an activation file. Mark a license and click Copy→ All in the context menu and then paste the clipboard contents into a text file.

ThinPrint licensing: copy server name, license key and registration key into clipboard

Create a text file in this manner for all servers. This text file contains a list of the servers, onto which the licenses and the assigned license keys and registration keys shall be entered in the following syntax:

<IP address>:<license key>:<registration key>
or
<host name>:<license key>:<registration key>

Afterwards, you can import the contents of the text file into Enterprise Portal with a click on the button (arrow). See also Unattended installation of ThinPrint Engine components.

Cortado Enterprise Portal – import licenses, using text file

Then, an activation key and a subscription key will be displayed in Enterprise Portal (right arrow). There you can also export the license keys in a text file (activation file) with a click on the button (left arrow), in order to add them to the license manager afterwards; for this see the section Multiple activations (activation file) below.

Entering activation key and subscription key in the License Manager

  • In License Manager, mark a license key to be activated. Select Activate in the context menu.

  • A window opens, in which you can enter the activation key. At the same time, you can enter the subscription key.

ThinPrint licensing: entering activation key with subscription key

Once you confirm your entry with OK, the license key (green) is displayed in License Manager with the activation key, and the Activated column shows yes. Following this activation, the license is valid indefinitely – the date by Valit Until is omitted.

You will also see the end date of your license subscription. As long as your license has a valid update subscription, you can download and install software updates from our website (see Installation of the subscription key).

ThinPrint licensing: productive license activated

In contrast to all other activated productive license keys, licenses in Annual License Model don't have a subscription key when first entered. Instead, the license manager displays for how long the license key is valid (see column Valid Until).

The ThinPrint software no longer has a Valid Until time limit.

Multiple activations (activation file)

If you want to activate several licenses at the same time (see the section Create activation file above), you can do so simultaneously for all selected servers in the License Manager on the server localhost (screenshot follwing the next). Use the activation file received from ThinPrint or Cortado or one exported from Enterprise Portal (next screenshot).

This text file contains a list of the servers, onto which the licenses and the assigned license keys, registration keys, activation keys and subscription keys shall be entered in the following syntax:

<IP address>:<license key>:<registration key>:<activation key>:<subscription key>
or
<host name>:<license key>:<registration key>:<activation key>:<subscription key>
ThinPrint licensing: activation file exported from Enterprise Portal
  • Select in context menu License/Activation Set.

ThinPrint licensing: activating multiple licenses simultaneously

  • Open the activation file (screenshot before the previous one), select the file contents, and use copy-and-paste to enter it into License Manager. Click OK.
